According to the U.S. State Department, the United States established diplomatic relations with Azerbaijan in 1992 soon after its independence from the Soviet Union. The United States and Azerbaijan clearly have common interests. The Azeris have fully adopted the same methods as the healthy bearers of democracy, together with whom they work in a series of programs such as the promotion of European energy security, the expansion of bilateral trade and investments and the usual fight against terrorism which previously they create and then destroy with the excuse of selling weapons, destroying, rebuilding and doing business. These diplomatic relations also include the United States’ commitment to strengthening democracy and promoting economic diversification in Azerbaijan. Furthermore, the dear dispensers of freedom work in favor of a lasting and sustainable political solution regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh (Republic of Artsakh) conflict.
The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) was created precisely with the aim of promoting regional stability, peace and prosperity. Peace and prosperity that are valid only for Azerbaijan, to the detriment of the Armenians who have always inhabited those lands and suffer abuses worse than those experienced by the Jews during the Holocaust. The Azeris are helped against terrorism by the best Stars and Stripes experts and supported in the development and export of their energy resources to Western markets. This means that all Western countries are co-responsible for what is happening to the Armenian people from the Nagorno Karabakh area.
For the series “‘ncopp’ ‘and deaf’ people don’t look at anyone’s face” which means money is above everything, even human lives. Machiavellian Italy turns the other way. Although, by its constitution, it repudiates war, and despite experiencing a heavy economic imbalance, it has sent weapons and military means to Ukraine. But he cares little or nothing about Armenia. What does the Vatican do? It remains silent and his silence consents to the opprobrium that Azerbaijan is committing against the Armenian people, a Christian people who, as such, are crucified by their own father. President Biden’s official declaration of “genocide” regarding the killing and deportation of millions of Armenians by the Ottoman Empire was a sop to gain consensus.
The extermination of the Armenian ethnic group, which officially occurred in 1915, but in reality began towards the end of the 19th century, continues undisturbed. The attack launched against the Armenian people in 2020 ended, after 44 terrible days of war, with the ceasefire order signed in Moscow on November10th, 2020. However the ceasefire order was violated on September 19th, by Azerbaijan which definitely annihilated the Republic of Artsakh.
Drones and high-tech weapons, sent by Turkey and Israel (supplied by the country with the stars and stripes), have been the protagonists of these years of destruction and death. The OSCE was of no use. Instead of finding a solution and bringing peace, all Western countries made sure that nothing changed. With the end of the Republic of Artsakh, one hundred and fifty thousand Armenians have been forced to leave their homes and take refuge in Armenia in recent days. A mass exodus of entire families who didn’t even have time to take their clothes, or anything else from their homes.
There were explosions that caused deaths and injuries, and during the escape the buses carrying the Armenians were hit by Azeris soldiers. Many Armenian refugees have been welcomed in small villages on the border with Armenia. They desperately need housing, a job, a life to start over in terrible psychological, physical and financial conditions.
The Armenian government is in charge of providing them an accomodation but this takes time. Several humanitarian organizations provide blankets, food, medicine, psychological assistance and education. However this will never clear the conscience of those who have been deaf and dumb towards one of the greatest human cases in our history.
We were in contact with film director and executive director of the Fish Eye Art Cultural Foundation, Jivan Avetisyan, who grew up in Artsakh and lives in Yerevan, Armenia. For many years he has been spreading history and awareness of what is happening to the Armenian people through his films and documentaries. Therefore we asked him for an update on the situation and to share his thoughts on the matter.
J.A.: “My relatives and family members were also in Artsakh, many of them without any means of communication. The Republic of Artsakh has withstood hundreds of years of attacks and violence. But they remained indestructible and are still strong in their will.
I myself grew up in Artsakh during the war, which took a ferocious course in 1992-1994 and ended with the victory of Armenia. My family, my friends’ families, achieved that victory through great hardship and liberated our motherland. During the 30-year ceasefire, from April 2nd to 5th, 2016, the Artsakh Four-Day War took place, which it was possible to stop thanks to the lives of many young people.
In 2020, when the world was grappling with COVID-19, Armenians had to repel another Azeris aggression by fighting missiles, drones and the Azeris mercenary army. On September 27th, 2020, the 44-day Artsakh War began, which unfortunately led to the loss of a significant part of Artsakh’s territories. Azerbaijan, with its false propaganda and terrorism, actually carried out genocide and ethnic cleansing, committing many war crimes during the war, not only against soldiers but also against the civilian population of Artsakh. Azerbaijan has used a number of prohibited weapons against the civilian population: cluster munitions, white phosphorus munitions, etc. The use of these weapons and Aliyev’s calls, in themselves, demonstrate Azerbaijan’s genocidal policy. On December 12th, 2022, Azerbaijan closed the only road connecting Armenia to Artsakh with unfounded arguments and effectively leaving 120,000 people hungry and cold. The people of Artsakh, as throughout the centuries, even now, have been tireless and resisted the crime committed by Azerbaijan. However, after about 9 months of resistance, on September 19th, 2023, the war resumed, which was launched by the Azerbaijani army by opening fire on the civilian population and even after accepting its demands, it simply continued to destroy and massacre the civilians, who were trying to find ways to move to other places in Armenia, particularly Yerevan. In the first two days it was officially announced that there were more than 200 victims and more than 400 injured, including the civilian population: women, children and elderly people.
After that the situation did not improve. A strong explosion occurred in the gasoline warehouse on September 25th, 2023. As a result, it was announced that more than 300 people were injured and more than 170 people were killed. Investigations so far show that this explosion was another terrorist act by the Azerbaijani government. According to data as of September 30th, 2023, approximately 100,417 people have left Artsakh. Many of them are now homeless, jobless and have lost their relatives. There are many wounded and missing, as well as many victims. As a result, an agreement was signed between Azerbaijan and the Republic of Artsakh on September 28th, 2023, according to which the Republic of Artsakh will be dissolved on January 1st, 2024. Armenia is the last barrier between Christian Europe and the Great Turanian Empire, which is the dream of Turkic-speaking nations. Despite this, Europe continues to remain silent about these horrible events. To put it in Christian terms, Europe behaves like Pontius Pilate. They still choose Barabbas. This is a disaster that the whole world is following. What is happening in Artsakh is a disgrace to the civilized world.”
