
The Penisola Sorrentina Award kicked off the events that will culminate in December in the Giornate Professionali di Cinema(Professional Days of Cinema). Lonigro (01 Distribution/Anica): “a beautiful event in which Sorrento confirms its cultural vocation”
Sorrento (Na), October 29th, 2024 – Two days dedicated to cinema and audiovisuals at the Teatro Tasso in Sorrento. The 2024 edition of the Penisola Award took place on October 25th with a success beyond all expectations. Anna Foglietta cut the ribbon of “M2 Filming Experience – Mezzogiorno e Mediterraneo”, a spin-off towards the thirtieth anniversary of the Penisola Sorrentina Award.
On October 26th, the Correale Museum officially opened the works of the 29th edition of the national cinematographic award, included in the promotion plan of the Film Commission Regione Campania.
The “Meet & Talk” preview featured Pier Paolo Mocci (Fortune Italia Entertainment) with Luigi Lonigro (01 Distribution Rai Cinema – Anica) and Francesco Branchetti (actor and director) with voice actor Luca Ward.
The deep voice of “The Gladiator” opened the show for the awards ceremony of the year, which went to Ward himself, Luca Manfredi (TV director award for the biopic: “Come è umana lui”, dedicated to the figure of Paolo Villaggio); Pippo Balistreri (Casa Sanremo Off award for the stage director of the Sanremo Festival, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Italian television); Nadia Rinaldi (female character award); Maurizio Mattioli (Dino Verde award for comedy); Luigi Lonigro, 01 Distribution Rai Cinema (Fortune Italia Entertainment distribution award); Mario Venuti (Lino Trezza career award).
The highlight was the delivery, by the Mayor of Sorrento Massimo Coppola, of a tribute to Ornella Muti for the recital: “Passioni ribelli”, a show written for her by Vincenzo Iannone, in which the actress (who worked in cinema alongside directors such as Damiano Damiani, Mario Monicelli, Dino Risi, Marco Ferreri) gave voice to the most influential Latin American writers, from Teresa Willms Montt to Gabriela Mistral, a Nobel Prize-winning poet.
The gala evening was hosted by artistic director Mario Esposito together with actress Francesca Cavallin.
