The pure essence of childhood – By P. Reeti
The cover of this issue is dedicated to all the children of the world, especially those who face bad experiences, those who resist and those who have been denied a future. It features a shot by Salar Charmi, an extraordinary Iranian photographer whose works have been presented in other previous issues of Napulitanamente. In addition to technique and creativity, every single one of his shots is full of meaning, a meaning that is perceived at first sight, together with his sensitivity which is a profound inspiration for us and so it was for this photograph which represents a child emerging from behind a tree and who waves.
Salar Charmi: “We know these children in Iran as 12-year-old child workers who work with wheelbarrows in the large Iranian market.”
Salar Charmi: “In one of the cities near the capital there is a dirt football field where the children were playing. And considering that there is no residential area there, the sunset moment is very beautiful. I captured that moment in a picture at the same time as the children were happy.”

Every day around 29 thousand children around the world are enslaved like the child on the cover, forced to leave their homes and live the worst nightmares: violence, war, hunger. Every day, throughout the world, the rights of these pure souls are systematically trampled upon. Massacres are perpetuated in the name of religion or the fight against terrorism, but in reality these are just pretexts to hide interests linked exclusively to power.
Don’t you think it’s time to say enough is enough?
Children are the future of the world, they are the best part of us and must be protected regardless of their origin, race, religion, culture or social status. This is the responsibility of all of us adults. For this reason, as opposed to the child worker we also selected another shot of Salar, a photo in which the faces are not visible, only the silhouettes of happy children can be seen. We want to see all the children of the world in those silhouettes! We accompany this shot with a poem written by our editor.
