Giuseppe Verdi’s La Traviata has won over the warm Neapolitan audience.
Delivery of the essay on Pietro Metastasio at the library of the San Pietro a Majella Conservatory.
Article by Maria Cuono
After the presentation, at Maschio Angioino, of the books by tenor Luca Lupoli and journalist and writer Maria Cuono, “Il Melodramma di Pietro Metastasio, Il Primato del Testo“(The Melodrama of Pietro Metastasio, The Primacy of the Text) published by Pagine, “Tutto con il cuore” (Everything with rhe heart), La nuova versione di “Verso l’Orizzonte” (Toward the Horizon) published by Kimerik, another evening in Naples, dedicated to culture and music, ended successfully where the stage at the Teatro di San Carlo was opera.
In fact Verdi’s La Traviata has once again fascinated a large audience. It had already been sold out for days. The company formed by the excellent choir, directed by Maestro Fabrizio Cassi, which includes the talented artists the tenor Luca Lupoli and the soprano Olga De Maio, was convincing.
The amazing Choir accompanied the other opera singers with their powerful voices, in the roles of Violetta, Alfredo and Germont père, played in this performance by Rosa Feola, Kang Wan and Luca Salsi.
The orchestra and the conductor Giacomo Sagripanti were also extraordinary, who delighted the atmosphere in the stalls and in the boxes where the writer was very excited to see an opera live in a very prestigious location like that of the San Carlo.
The sets and costumes were wonderful, directed by Lorenzo Amato.
The show lasted almost three hours and from start to finish it constantly captured the attention of the audience who applauded repeatedly and complacently between one scene and another. Lupoli and De Maio, thus, after the success achieved at the Teatro di San Carlo, together with their traveling companions, this morning, Thursday 25 July, went to the prestigious and historic Library of the Conservatory of San Pietro a Majella in Naples to donate a copy of their essay on Metastasio, “Il Melodramma di Pietro Metastasio, Il Primato del Testo” which is added to the one dedicated to the Neapolitan musician Mario Persico.
The well-known Neapolitan soprano, in addition to having edited the preface of the poetic anthology by Maria Cuono dedicated to Lorella Cuccarini, Monica Sarnelli and Carmen Giardina, chose the cover image of “Tutto con il cuore”.
We remember, among other things, that De Maio edited the bio-bibliographical research of Luca Lupoli’s essay.
Soon new news will arrive where both authors will shine again together with the soprano Olga De Maio.
