“La scuola incontra il cinema” (School meets cinema) has ended with the production of a short film, an initiative included in the “Teatro e Cinema, che classe!” (Theater and Cinema, what a class!) project of the Municipality of Napoli.
Napoli, March 14th, 2023 – “La scuola incontra il cinema” initiative, created by the MEET ETS Association as part of the”Teatro e Cinema, che classe!” project, promoted and financed by the Municipality of Napoli, with the aim of bringing young people closer to the knowledge of the performing and audiovisual arts, ended with great success.
An immersive training course
“La scuola incontra il cinema” was developed as a 26-hour training course, which involved 60 students and teachers of the Fermi-Gadda Institute, in Corso Malta, offering them an immersive experience in the world of cinema through theoretical lessons, practical workshops and moments of discussion with professionals in the sector.
Various topics were addressed: screenplay, direction, filming, editing. During the training course, students acquired skills in critically reading images and producing original content.
One of the most significant moments was the creation of a short film, entirely conceived, shot and edited by the students, supported by expert tutors: a work that represents the tangible result of teamwork, full of creativity and passion.
The short film will soon be distributed by the MEET ETS Association, which will promote its participation in a series of European film festivals, thus offering international visibility to the talent and commitment of the young protagonists of the project.
“The project ‘Teatro e Cinema, che classe!’ is an investment by the Administration that has a direct impact on education and on citizens, both today and tomorrow“, says Sergio Locoratolo, coordinator of cultural policies for the Municipality of Napoli.
“Specifically, the success of the project proposal of the MEET ETS Association demonstrates once again that cinema is a bridge between education and culture, capable of involving students and teachers. By also communicating with a contemporary language directed at young people, cinema represents a fundamental growth tool in the education of new generations. It is therefore important to accustom the youngest to the enjoyment of quality cultural products, providing useful tools for understanding and using audiovisual language“.
