The President of the Basilicata Region Vito Bardi: “an honor to welcome the actress Ornella Muti to our region“, while Francesco Baccini lights up the audience with the song Le Donne di Modena (The women of Modena)
San Fele, province of Potenza, 9 August 2023 – “Awarding three women from Basilicata engaged in the development of the territory means giving recognition to all those women of the South who, with tenacity and perseverance, contribute to the growth of the country“. These are the words of the mayor of San Fele, Donato Sperduto, on the sidelines of the investiture ceremony of the awards presented to Caterina Salvia (president of GAL percorsi), Gabriella Megale (president of Basilicata Development) and Donatella Merra (councillor for infrastructure of the Basilicata Region) on the occasion of “Southern Italy and the Mediterranean”. A special project organized by the municipality of San Fele and supported by the Basilicata Region, with the artistic and organizational direction of Mario Esposito.
The project was born as an opportunity for twinning with Premio Penisola Sorrentina (Sorrento Peninsula Prize), which has almost reached its thirtieth anniversary, to demonstrate that the Mediterranean is not only the sea but also land, roots, traditions, a sense of belonging that goes beyond personal data and places of residence.
Highlights of the initiative, which began on August 4th, were the national preview screening of the documentary film dedicated to San Fele: Oltre le Colline (Beyond the Hills) by Alberto Nigro; the recital of music and words with the singer-songwriter Francesco Baccini, from Genova, and the show Racconti di Cinema (Tales of Cinema) with Ornella Muti, icon of beauty and the seventh art who was given a career tribute by the President of the Regional Council of Basilicata, Vito Bardi.
Protagonists of the project also the Prefect of Potenza Michele Campanaro, the deputy head of cabinet of the minister of culture, Donato Luciano, and doctor and researcher Graziella Marino.
