
The singer-songwriter Gianfranco Caliendo is back with a new single, Le Parole, accompanied by an evocative video clip. The song is included in his latest album, created together with the Miele Band, entitled Oltre il Giardino.
The song, very intense and touching, talks about communication between human beings, necessary to create a bridge between souls. Particularly inspired, Caliendo gives life to a powerful and vibrant vocal performance, giving great expressive force to the sung phrases. As he himself explains:
‘‘Words and music. Those who write songs seek a balance between aesthetics and emotion, between fluidity and language, between mind and heart. I hope I have managed to dress well the text of Flora Contento which, just reading it, gave me shivers…’’.
Recently, the artist has used words as a form of memory and storytelling, publishing an autobiographical book, Memorie di un Capellone, in which he retraces five decades of music and successes.
The song, written by Flora Contento (lyrics) and Caliendo himself (music), is published by the record label Officine della Musica/N.M.Project. The group in the recording: Gianfranco Caliendo (lead vocals, guitars, piano), Dami Tedesco (second guitar), Piero Pisano (bass), Vito Capone (drums). Today, the Miele Band boasts two new entries, bassist Diego Gatto and keyboardist Francesco Lettieri.
The making of the video clip of Le Parole, avails itself of the director Michele De Angelis and Midea. The filming was carried out in the Splash recording studio, founded by Peppino di Capri.
Caliendo is preparing to celebrate his 50 years of professional career with a long series of projects, including a large theatrical concert and a tour.
Gianfranco Caliendo was the iconic frontman, lead singer, guitarist and author of Il Giardino dei Semplici from 1974 to 2012. Some of the results achieved with Il Giardino: 4 million copies sold; over 2000 concerts; 14 albums released. Their hits, which have marked more than one generation: M’innamorai (Festivalbar ‘75); Tu, ca nun chiagne (gold record in 1976); Una storia; Vai (Festivalbar ‘76); Miele (Sanremo Festival ‘77); Angela; Concerto in A Minor (Festivalbar ‘78); Tu, tu, tu; Silvie; Carnevale da buttare; …E amiamoci. In 1979, Gianfranco and the band helped consolidate the Neapolitan Power movement with the popular and innovative album B/N (Black and White), released by Warner. In the world of streaming, the historic recordings of Caliendo and Giardino have reached 30 million plays.
The musician has returned to the Sanremo Festival as a producer and author twice. He is the creator and signature of the Sanremo success Turuturu, launched by his daughter Giada Caliendo in 2001. Reinterpreted in several languages, the song has sold 2,200,000 copies worldwide and has totaled 93 million plays on digital platforms.
Having become an independent singer-songwriter, Gianfranco has recorded three albums of great artistic impact: Memorie di un pazzo (2012), Amanapoli (2016), Oltre il Giardino (2022).
