Rome, June 25th, 2024 – The Blatty Literary Award is about to start, a prestigious competition designed to recognize and promote emerging literary talent in the Italian scene. The award, dedicated to the memory of the famous writer and screenwriter William Peter Blatte, author of “The Exorcist”, aims to discover and celebrate new voices in contemporary horror fiction.
The competition accepts unpublished works of fiction, with particular attention to the genres of horror, weird and mystery, in line with Blatty’s literary legacy.
The aim of the award is to be a great opportunity for all emerging writers, who dream of publishing their work.
Participation is free and open to everyone, of any nationality, both beginners and professional writers, as long as they are of age. The submitted works must be original, unpublished and written in Italian.
Manuscripts must have the following requirements:
be composed of a number of words between 2,000 and 7,500;
dialogues must be inserted between the corporals, thoughts in italics;be sent by October 1st, 2024, as an attachment, to the email address:

in MS Word format;
or use the submission form at the bottom of the page;
be complete with the author’s name, surname, address and telephone number;
report in the subject of the email: “Blatty Award – Author’s Name – Story Title”.
All manuscripts received without the above requirements will not be taken into consideration and the author will not receive any response.
Each author can submit a maximum of two stories.
The Eclissi editorial staff will select, from the manuscripts received, 5 finalists who will be announced by October 31st, 2024 on social media and contacted privately via email.
The winner will receive a symbolic cash prize of β¬75.00, the second place β¬15.00 and the third place β¬10.00.
The fourth and fifth, as well as the previous three classified, will see their works published in the 3rd volume of the Infernalia Magazine.
The jury is composed of experts in the sector, professionals from the Publishing Agency “La Forgia dei Libri”, and their judgment will be final.
