Masselli: “We are laying the foundations for the establishment of a University Research Center in Apricena“
Foggia, October 3rd, 2024 – It’s official. At the Polytechnic of Bari a PhD scholarship will be created funded by the Stilmarmo Group of Apricena, a renowned company in the national and international stone sector, together with the European Union (NextGenerationEU) and the Ministry of University and Research.
The Stilmarmo Group has, in fact, been identified as a company suitable for co-financing within the resources, under the PNRR, of Mission 4 “Education and research” – Component 2 “From research to business”, Investment 3.3 “Introduction of innovative doctorates that respond to the innovation needs of companies”. Just a few days ago, Stilmarmo was the protagonist at the Marmomac in Verona, where it enchanted the world with its innovative “lithic fabric”.
The PhD course starting at the Polytechnic of Bari
The PhD course in “Project for Heritage: Knowledge, Tradition and Innovation” should start by next December and will last 3 years.
It will be held by the Department of Architecture, Construction and Design of the Polytechnic of Bari. The coordinator of the course will be Professor Giuseppe Fallacara, full professor of architectural design at the same department.
Furthermore, periods of study and research are planned at the production units of the Stilmarmo Group, from a minimum of 6 months to a maximum of 18 months, even non-continuous, over the three-year period.
The first recipient of the PhD scholarship co-financed by the Stilmarmo Group will be Clara Rosa Romano from Puglia, winner of the related competition.
“I can’t wait to start my doctorate and I will always carry the city of Apricena in my heart, for the great opportunity it is offering me” says the very young Clara (pictured with Masselli).
Apricena, between university research courses and participatory budgeting
“Through this prestigious doctorate, Apricena will be, for the first time and officially, the site of a university research course” proudly declares Alfonso Masselli, head of external relations for the industrial group “Stilmarmo”.
Masselli is also the creator of the well-known format of innovative ideas “Tu conti di piรน”(You count more), which aims, among other things, to open the city of Apricena, the second Italian capital of marble after Carrara, to the most advanced tools of direct democracy, including “participatory budgeting”.
Last September, Masselli, who has long supported the idea of โโestablishing the second “University Research Center” of the Polytechnic of Bari in Apricena, was appointed by the Mayor of Apricena, Antonio Potenza, as his “close collaborator”. On behalf of which he will deal with economic development policies, infrastructure, institutional and international relations alongside the governing bodies of the municipal body (mayor, council, assessors).
